Laeta is a non-profit research and technology organization established as an Associated Laboratory of the Portuguese scientific system. It operates as a consortium of four institutes: INEGI (Institute of Science and Innovation in Mechanical and Industrial Engineering, founded 1986), ADAI (focused on Energy, Environment and Sustainability), AEROG (Aeronautics and Astronautics Research Center), and idMEC (Institute of Mechanical Engineering, founded 1992). Laeta's mission encompasses fundamental and applied research in mechanical engineering, materials science, energy systems, industrial ecology, sustainable built environments, aerodynamics, and propulsion. The organization performs contracted research, technology transfer, consulting services, advanced training, and policy-making support.
