Founded in 2021, LDES Council is a ngo headquartered in Etterbeek, Belgium with approximately 50-200 employees specializing in Energy Storage.

The LDES Council operates as a global stakeholder organization dedicated to scaling long-duration energy storage technologies. Established in 2021 at COP26, the council brings together industry leaders, customers, and policymakers to accelerate innovation and deployment of LDES solutions ranging from 8 hours to seasonal storage. The organization focuses on three pillars: educating utilities and industrial customers, uniting competitors and policymakers, and advocating for flexible energy systems. LDES technologies include chemical, thermal, mechanical, and electrochemical storage systems critical for managing renewable energy intermittency, providing system services, enabling 24/7 clean power and heat, and supporting grid reliability during demand peaks and extreme events.
