Lucéole is a renewable energy cooperative established in Wallonia, Belgium, with a mission to involve citizens in renewable energy development, particularly wind energy. The cooperative operates on principles of participatory citizenship, territorial anchoring, and solidarity economics. Members invest in renewable energy projects through cooperative shares (€100 per share, maximum €5,000 per person) and receive dividends capped at 6% annually per cooperative law. The cooperative manages wind farm projects through separate operating companies and partners with COCITER, a green electricity supplier, to provide members with local, citizen-owned renewable energy. Lucéole employs a participatory governance model with Competence and Proposal Groups (GCP) enabling member involvement in project development and decision-making. The cooperative emphasizes community benefit, with reinvested profits supporting additional renewable energy initiatives. Wind turbines used have a design life of at least 20 years, with 98% of materials recyclable at end-of-life.
