About
Founded in 2021, Marbel Project is a renewable energy company headquartered in Barcelona, Spain specializing in Energy Storage.
MARBEL is a collaborative Horizon 2020 research project coordinated by Eurecat Technology Center, involving 16 partners from 7 European countries. The project focuses on developing innovative, lightweight, and competitive battery packs for battery electric vehicles (BEV) and plug-in hybrids (PHEV). Key innovations include modular design enabling easy assembly and disassembly, ultra-fast charging technologies, advanced thermal management systems maintaining pack temperature between 5-40°C, flexible battery management systems adaptable to various cell configurations, and design-for-disassembly methodology supporting second-life applications and recycling. The project aims to address critical consumer concerns regarding vehicle range, charging time, cost, and reliability while contributing to EU emission reduction targets of 40% by 2030. MARBEL batteries are designed to extend lifespan to 300,000 km, nearly double current market performance, and enable sustainable circular economy principles in EV battery lifecycle management.
