Melt-Ing GmbH is a German startup specializing in scalable latent thermal storage solutions using phase-change materials (PCMs). The company manufactures MELT Plates—thin (1.2 cm), large-format thermal buffer panels that store significant heat or cold within narrow temperature ranges, providing thermal comfort, passive heat protection, and demand flexibility in buildings. The plates function as equivalent to 25 cm concrete thermal mass and are designed for lightweight construction, roof retrofits, floor heating systems, and integration with heat pumps and renewable energy systems. Products include MELT Plate Comfort (general thermal buffering), MELT Plate Flex (18-25°C temperature range), MELT Plate active (active heating/cooling with floor systems), and MELT Shield (passive solar heat protection with 30°C melting point). The enclosure uses 100% recycled plastic. The technology enables buildings to shift energy consumption to times when renewable energy or dynamic pricing is favorable, reducing CO2 emissions by up to 85% compared to gas heating. Currently in pilot production with partnerships across the building materials and light-construction industries.
