Negawattschweiz is a Swiss NGO working on energy sufficiency as a core strategy for sustainable energy transition. Since 2017, the organization has developed the négaWatt scenario for Switzerland's 2050 energy future, which integrates three pillars: sufficiency (reducing demand), efficiency (improving technology), and renewable energy. The organization conducts energy modeling, develops sufficiency strategies for public institutions, facilitates knowledge networks, and conducts public outreach. Key projects include developing sufficiency roadmaps for Swiss cantons (Jura, Vaud), creating interactive modeling tools for sustainable mobility, and establishing a national Sufficiency Network (Netzwerk Suffizienz Schweiz). The négaWatt scenario projects that Switzerland could reduce energy consumption from 747 PJ (2020) to 351 PJ by 2050, with renewable sources providing 93% of energy. The organization has offices in Bern and Basel.
