Founded in 2016, Orkídea is a co-op headquartered in South Iceland, Iceland with approximately 10-50 employees specializing in Biogas, Hydrogen, Biomass.

Orkídea is a collaborative innovation initiative jointly owned by Landsvirkjun Power Company, Association of South Iceland Municipalities, Agricultural University of Iceland, and the Ministry of Environment, Energy and Climate. The organization focuses on promoting value creation through renewable resource valorization, particularly in food production and biotechnology. Orkídea supports entrepreneurs through business acceleration, grant applications, market development, and investor connections. Key focus areas include greenhouse agriculture, algae production, land-based fish farming, food processing powered by renewable energy, and circular economy principles such as eco-industrial parks. The organization operates the Startup Orkídea accelerator program, facilitates EU project participation, and promotes energy transition in agriculture through biogas, renewable-powered systems, and sustainable food production models.
