QuadratSolar is a non-profit citizen initiative founded in November 2022 by engaged Mannheim residents. The organization focuses on advancing renewable energy expansion in Mannheim and surrounding areas through plug-in solar devices (Stecker-Solargeräte/balcony power plants). Key activities include: educating and informing residents about plug-in solar systems; organizing group purchases to achieve cost advantages and uniform appearance in multi-family buildings; facilitating dialogue between tenants, landlords, and property associations; addressing bureaucratic obstacles; and partnering with local authorities and utilities. The initiative has facilitated registration of approximately 60 plug-in solar systems since its founding, representing a 50% increase in the district.
