About
Founded in 2024, Recobats is a private headquartered in Córdoba, Spain specializing in Energy Storage.
Recobats is a consortium of 11 entities (7 companies and 4 research organizations) focused on obtaining an integral and versatile strategy for the second life and recycling of lithium-ion batteries (LIBs) from electric mobility at end-of-life. The project addresses the growing demand for battery recycling and critical material recovery as European electric vehicle adoption accelerates toward 2030. The initiative encompasses research across the entire value chain: from logistics, storage and transport safety, deactivation, and automatic disassembly, to cell state diagnosis, battery regeneration, and recovery of cathode, anode, copper, aluminum, and strategic metals through biohydrometallurgy, selective fusion, and purification technologies. Recobats aims to reduce landfill waste, promote electromobility and renewable energy, recover critical metals, and improve environmental sustainability while achieving 65% recycling efficiency by 2026 and 70% by 2031 in compliance with EU battery regulations.
