About
Founded in 2022, Renewstable Barbados is a private headquartered in Hastings, Barbados specializing in Solar, Hydrogen, Energy Storage.
Renewstable Barbados (RSB) is developing the Caribbean's largest green hydrogen plant at Harrow Plantation, St. Philip. The hybrid system combines solar generation with hydrogen storage using water electrolysis, releasing energy during day and night while minimizing lithium battery use. The facility is designed to power approximately 16,000 residents with clean electricity and reduce annual CO2 emissions by 48,000 tons. RSB replaces energy generated from Heavy Fuel Oil and Jet Fuel with firm, renewable power. The project includes a Barbadian Blackbelly sheep farm for meat and skin production, high-intensity climate-resilient greenhouse agriculture, and will create approximately 180 jobs during construction and operations. The system is designed to withstand extreme weather conditions including hurricanes and earthquakes. After 25 years of operation, solar panels and hydrogen storage can be refitted for additional generation cycles with full component recycling. RSB is expected to reduce fuel imports by 13 million liters annually and generate 13.6 million BDS in foreign exchange savings, plus over 1 million BDS annually from agricultural products.
