Renewstable Swakopmund is a flagship renewable energy project combining solar photovoltaic generation, green hydrogen production via electrolysis, hydrogen storage in metallic tanks, and fuel cell technology for continuous electricity generation. The facility utilizes advanced containerized energy storage systems tailored to local climate conditions in Swakopmund. The project employs water-cycle hydrogen technology with zero chemical emissions, producing only oxygen and water as byproducts. Designed to deliver baseload power to over 140,000 citizens, the project enhances grid stability and reduces Namibia's energy imports. HDF Energy Namibia is a subsidiary of French independent power producer HDF, specializing in non-intermittent renewable energy and electricity storage solutions. The project creates approximately 300 direct construction jobs and 45 operational positions, with additional indirect employment across the value chain.
