SoHHytec, headquartered in Lausanne, Switzerland, is a developer and manufacturer of integrated photoelectrochemical systems for direct solar-to-hydrogen conversion. The company's core product, the Arb, is a fully automated system that mimics natural photosynthesis, using only solar energy and water as inputs to produce highly pure hydrogen (99.99%), oxygen, electricity, and heat. The Arb incorporates concentrated solar technology with proprietary photoelectrochemical devices and operates with a 25-year lifespan requiring minimal maintenance. Available in three sizes (9m, 13m, 25m), the Arb produces 10-80 kg of hydrogen per day respectively, with solar-to-hydrogen efficiency of 25% and overall system efficiency of 80%. SoHHytec also offers the Electrical Arb for electricity and heat co-generation (>36% efficiency) and is developing a Reversible Arb capable of bidirectional operation. The technology originated from over 10 years of research at EPFL's Laboratory of Renewable Energy Science and Engineering.
