Solarworx is a Berlin-based renewable energy company founded in 2017 by engineers Felix Boldt and Jakob Schily and entrepreneur Franz Josef Buschmeier. The company develops and produces sustainable and affordable solar energy systems for countries in the Global South, leveraging extensive experience in rural electrification in East Africa. Solarworx offers a range of modular solar home systems (Solego product line) and innovative DC MESH microgrid technology that allows interconnection of individual solar home systems into a decentralized 60V DC distribution grid. This technology enables excess solar generation and unused battery capacity to be shared at the grid level, allowing communities to achieve higher electrification tiers (Tier 3-4) and support energy-intensive appliances such as milling machines. All systems are pay-as-you-go enabled, allowing consumers to pay instalments via mobile money. The company operates primarily in Africa with expanding presence in Germany through a partnership with Solarkiosk, and maintains production capabilities in Shenzhen, China.
