Founded in 1979, Swedfund is a state-owned enterprise headquartered in Sweden with approximately 51-200 employees specializing in Renewable Energy, Hydro, Solar.
Swedfund is Sweden's development finance institution with a mission to reduce poverty through sustainable investments in developing countries. Established in 1979 and state-owned under the Swedish Ministry of Finance, Swedfund invests in the private sector and funds feasibility studies through its Project Accelerator targeting public sector infrastructure in Africa, South and Southeast Asia, and Ukraine. The organization focuses on three main sectors: Energy & Climate, Financial Inclusion, and Food Systems. Swedfund operates as a catalytic investor, attracting private capital to projects that would otherwise not occur, with emphasis on job creation, gender equality, climate action, digitalization, and access to essential services.
