Swiss H2 Generation is a joint venture between Groupe E and ENGIE Services AG established to develop sustainable hydrogen ecosystems and deliver turnkey solutions across the entire renewable hydrogen value chain. The company operates Switzerland's first green hydrogen production facility in western Switzerland, located at the Schiffenen dam in Fribourg Canton. The facility uses two H-TEC SYSTEMS PEM electrolysers (1 MW each) powered by hydroelectric energy from the dam to produce approximately 300 tonnes of green hydrogen annually without CO2 emissions. The hydrogen is intended for decarbonizing heavy transport, industry, and renewable energy storage. The facility was inaugurated in October 2023 after beginning operations in August 2023.
