Founded in 2020, TwinERGY is a ngo headquartered in Barcelona, Spain specializing in Energy Storage.

TwinERGY is a collaborative research initiative funded by the European Union's Horizon 2020 programme (grant agreement N 957736) involving 18 partners from 12 countries. The project introduces an innovative Demand Response Framework that enables citizens and local communities to optimize their energy consumption, track usage patterns, and provide grid flexibility while maintaining comfort and well-being. The framework connects smart grids, energy management systems, and smart home devices through an interoperable platform. Implementation involves four pilot demonstrations across Bristol (UK), Athens (Greece), Steinheim (Germany), and Benetutti (Italy), where residents and commercial buildings participate in implicit demand response programmes. The project emphasizes co-creation with citizens, developing personalized flexibility profiles and virtual power plant strategies. Key outputs include nine use cases, nine services and applications, and one interoperable platform designed to support local energy communities and new business models for prosumers and retailers.
