Unie komunitní energetiky (Community Energy Union) is an NGO founded by Frank Bold and the DUHA Friends of the Earth CZ movement. It serves as an interest group bringing together professionals, municipalities, local action groups, companies, and associations from the energy, environmental, and construction sectors. The organization's primary mission is to advance community energy in the Czech Republic through legislative advocacy, subsidy program optimization, and implementation support. It provides members with information on legislative developments, facilitates exchange of best practices, and works toward creating a favorable regulatory environment for decentralized renewable energy production. The union operates three working groups focused on legislation, subsidies, and implementation know-how. As of 2024, community energy in the Czech Republic includes over 4,000 operational renewable generation facilities and 3,500 consumption points sharing electricity within energy communities and active customer arrangements.
