Umgasrenovable (Unidad Mixta de Gas Renovable) is a joint research initiative established in 2016 as a collaboration between Naturgy, EnergyLab technology center, and EDAR Bens. The consortium conducts research and development on renewable gases including biogas, biomethane, green hydrogen, biohydrogen, and syngas. Notable achievements include implementing a membrane-based purification plant and Spain's first biological methanation facility at the Bens wastewater treatment facility. The generated biomethane is used as alternative fuel in vehicle fleets.
