UU Invest AB is Uppsala University's investment company founded in 1995 with a mandate to invest in research-based companies derived from university innovation. The company functions as an early-stage investor with longer exit strategies compared to traditional venture capital firms. UU Invest supports researchers and entrepreneurs from concept validation through business development, offering not only capital but also access to expertise, networks, and strategic guidance. The company has invested over 100 MSEK in more than 100 companies historically and currently maintains an active portfolio of over 40 companies across life science, technology, and humanities sectors. Notable portfolio companies include Mesenkia Therapeutics (glioblastoma treatment), Duck Technologies (energy-saving window technology), Scaleout (federated machine learning), Optima Planta (sustainable agriculture), and SoundSim360 (acoustic simulation).
