About
Founded in 2024, Valorish is a ngo headquartered in Spain with approximately 50-200 employees specializing in Biogas.
Valorish is a Horizon Europe research project (HORIZON-CL6-2023-CIRCBIO-02) that develops and scales a computationally-assisted green cascade valorisation approach for waste and by-products from the fishing industry. The project transforms underutilized resources—including fish heads, bones, guts, scales, and skin—into high-value bioproducts targeting food applications, nutraceuticals, food additives, and supplements. The approach employs advanced computational tools for process design, modeling, optimization, and scale-up. Key innovations include fermentation-based protein hydrolysis, production of bacteriocins and antimicrobial compounds like nisin, extraction of marine collagen, astaxanthin, and vitamin B12, and use of Natural Deep Eutectic Solvents as sustainable alternatives to toxic solvents. The project aims to achieve zero-waste biorefineries while supporting the EU Waste Framework Directive and EU Bioeconomy Strategy toward climate neutrality.
