Vents du Sud is a citizen cooperative established in early 2012 by 33 citizens in southern Luxembourg province. The cooperative was created to enable local community participation in renewable energy projects, particularly wind farms developing in the Arlon and Messancy regions. The organization aims to democratically manage renewable energy production at the local level. In addition to operating renewable energy installations, Vents du Sud prospectively develops new renewable energy projects annually. The cooperative is also involved in RénoSud Energie, a citizen-oriented energy renovation support program offering diagnostic and financial analysis for residential energy efficiency improvements, funded by the Walloon Region and partner municipalities.
