The German National Hydrogen Council (Nationaler Wasserstoffrat) is an independent, non-partisan advisory body appointed by the German government. Comprising 22 high-ranking members from business, science, and civil society, it operates six standing working groups and sub-groups to draft position papers, recommendations, and studies on hydrogen policy. The Council deliberates and adopts proposals in plenary sessions before forwarding them to the State Secretaries Committee on Hydrogen. It supports the implementation and development of Germany's National Hydrogen Strategy in coordination with the Hydrogen Coordination Office (Leitstelle Wasserstoff), operated by the Deutsche Energie-Agentur (dena) under the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy.
