About
Founded in 2011, Optics11 is a defense subsystem manufacturer based in Amsterdam, Netherlands working in naval systems, unmanned systems, radar & sensors.
Optics11 is an Amsterdam-based deeptech company that develops fiber-optic sensing systems for harsh environments. Its defence-relevant work centres on underwater security: the OptiArray and OTADES optical towed arrays for submarine and anti-submarine warfare, and the OptiBarrier seabed sensing grid for protecting harbours, offshore assets and subsea cables against sabotage and unauthorised interference. The company also serves energy, structural health monitoring, rail and R&D markets, with products such as the OptiFender partial discharge monitoring system, the I4 series FBG interrogators and the NovaFAZ structural health monitoring system. Optics11 is based on interferometry and fiber Bragg grating technology, and in 2025 announced a 17 million funding round to scale its underwater security and grid solutions.

OptiArray
Towed array for submarines
Thinline, low-drag, all-optical towed array providing high-sensitivity passive anti-submarine warfare detection and acoustic classification for submarines. Adopted for integration into the Royal Netherlands Navy's Orka-class submarines.
OTADES (Optical Thin Array Detection System)
Towed array for XLUUVs and submarines
Fiber-optic thin array hosting hundreds of built-to-spec hydrophones with low power requirements, designed for extra large unmanned underwater vehicles and submarine anti-submarine warfare.
OptiBarrier
Subsea security sensing grid
Modular all-optical fiber seabed curtain providing 24/7 over-the-horizon acoustic threat detection around harbours, offshore assets, pipelines and cables, with real-time alerts to command systems.
