Afonds is the support foundation of the Riga East University Hospital (Austrumu slimnīca) in Latvia. It raises donations from individuals to support the hospital's medical education and professional development, science and research, patient care quality, health promotion and disease prevention, and charity and cultural activities for hospital staff and children. The foundation also hosts an independent ethics committee for medical and biomedical research and supports the hospital's Stella Vitalis choir. Its founders are former hospital employees, and its board serves on a voluntary basis. Donations can be made online or by bank transfer, and the foundation holds public-benefit organisation status in Latvia.
