About

Founded in 1985, Ateliers du Monceau is a social enterprise based in Grâce-Hollogne, Belgium working on disability, employment & skills, education.

Les Ateliers du Monceau are a Belgian non-profit association (ASBL) and sheltered employment enterprise (entreprise de travail adapté) based in Grâce-Hollogne, near Liège in Wallonia. Founded in 1985 following an initiative by the APEDAF parents' association, their primary aim is the social and professional integration of deaf and hard-of-hearing people, who form a large part of their workforce. The organisation provides wood-based industrial services, including pallet and packaging repair and manufacture, custom wood packaging, sawing and machining, and prefabricated timber construction. Through its subsidiary Atelier de l'Avenir, it develops prefabricated timber building systems such as the CIMEDE and WALLSPEED systems, as well as 3D modules and acoustic panels, and it works on public construction contracts that include social clauses. The organisation also runs sign language courses for staff and supports the training and career development of its workers. It operates a wood-waste heating system and a heat-treatment oven for ISPM 15 compliance. The Surdimobile ASBL, created in 1999, is associated with the organisation and works to raise public awareness of deafness.
