The Society for Psychological Assistance (DPP, also SPA) is a non-governmental, non-profit organisation founded in Zagreb in 1993, initially in response to the consequences of war for the welfare and mental health of the population in Croatia. It provides psychosocial services to individuals, families, groups and communities, including counselling, psychotherapy, group programmes and psychological crisis interventions, notably through its Modus Child, Adolescent and Family Community Centre in Zagreb. It also builds the competencies of helping professionals through training, supervision, consultancy and conferences, and has pioneered services later adopted into government systems, such as clinical supervision in social services and treatment of perpetrators of domestic violence. Its work reaches people in Croatia and, through projects, other European countries.
