Gyvūnų globėjų asociacija is a Lithuanian non-profit association founded in 1999 that works to protect domestic and wild animals from cruelty and to improve animal welfare. Its volunteers rescue, treat, shelter, rehabilitate and release injured or orphaned wild animals and birds, and respond to reports of stray and wandering animals. Its work includes capture and sterilisation of stray animals, animal population control, rehoming, first aid, and operating animal shelters. The association also runs educational activities on humane treatment and ecological culture, organises public events and campaigns, and has contracted services with the Lithuanian Ministry of Environment since 2008. It has also taken part in projects supporting socially excluded young people. Its activities are based mainly in Kaunas, with animal care centres in Alytus and Klaipėda counties, and it is funded largely by public donations, including the income tax designation scheme.
