About

Founded in 2011, Hogar Nazaret is a non-governmental organisation based in Peru working on children & youth, poverty & hunger, health +3 more.

Hogar Nazaret is a non-governmental organisation founded by Spanish priest Padre Ignacio María Doñoro in 2011 in the Peruvian Amazon. It runs rescue homes for children and adolescents living in extreme poverty and vulnerability, providing shelter, food, clothing, schooling, healthcare and psychological support, while following up with their families with the aim of reintegration. Its main centres are in Bellavista (for girls and adolescents) and Carhuapoma (for boys and adolescents), in the Madre de Dios and San Martín regions of Peru. The organisation is funded mainly by individual donations, one-off and monthly, from supporters in Spain and elsewhere, and also through a foundation that receives donations on its behalf. Donations to the organisation may be partially deductible from Spanish income tax. Its activities also include a farm for food supply, a clinic for mental health, and the sale of books by its founder. The organisation works in coordination with parishes and the education system to take in children at high risk of social exclusion.
