About
Founded in 2022, Kaķu palīdzības centrs REMI is a charity based in Rīga, Latvia working on animal welfare.
Kaķu palīdzības centrs REMI is a volunteer-run non-profit organisation based in Rīga, Latvia, that began operating in autumn 2022. It runs the Kaķa sirds cat shelter and veterinary clinic, which takes in stray and abandoned cats and helps cats of low-income, pensioner and struggling owners. The shelter operates a cage-free, no-kill model and places cats in adoptive homes; by late 2025 it had found homes for more than 600 cats. Cats receive medical examinations, sterilisation and vaccination before adoption. Visits to the shelter are by prior booking. The organisation is funded mainly by donations, including support from the LNK Labdarības fonds, and sells charity calendars with a football club. It also works with partners and content creators to promote adoptions.
