Kontinenten

Founded in 1970, Kontinenten is a non-governmental organisation based in Brugge, Belgium working on international development, children & youth, community development.

Kontinenten vzw is a Belgian non-profit association founded in 1970 on the initiative of priest Omer Tanghe. It supports small-scale, sustainable development projects in Africa, the Americas, Asia and the Balkans, working with local organisations to improve living conditions, with attention to the most vulnerable. Projects are run in partnership with local organisations and often linked to Belgian project holders and volunteers who fundraise for them. The organisation is headquartered in Brugge, Belgium, and has been active for more than 50 years. It is recognised by the Belgian government as an institution for aid to developing countries. In 2026 it received a negative decision on renewal of its recognition for issuing tax certificates, so donations for 2026 cannot currently receive tax certificates.
