About
Founded in 2007, Lesė is a non-governmental organisation based in Vilnius, Lithuania working on animal welfare, education, community development.
Lesė is a non-governmental, non-profit animal welfare organisation based on volunteers, operating in Lithuania. It rescues, treats, fosters and rehomes stray dogs and cats at shelters in Vilnius (Buivydiškės) and Kaunas (Sausinė), and does not euthanise healthy animals. It runs a catch, neuter, release programme for wild cats, promotes adoption, and works in education by visiting schools, hosting student and guest groups, and engaging the public through social networks and events. It also recruits volunteers, including international volunteers through the European Solidarity Corps, and supports animal welfare through its own sterilisation and rescue work, which began in Vilnius and Kaunas in 2006–2008. The organisation's main funding comes from donations, the 1.2% personal income tax allocation, and corporate campaigns.
