REMAR Hrvatska

About
Founded in 1982, REMAR Hrvatska is a non-governmental organisation based in Zaprešić, Croatia working on addiction, refugees & migration, poverty & hunger +1 more.
REMAR Hrvatska is a Christian humanitarian association in Croatia, part of the international REMAR network founded in Spain in 1982. It provides residential rehabilitation and resocialisation for people with drug, alcohol and other addictions, and takes in other marginalised people, including abandoned children, former prisoners, single mothers, victims of abuse and refugees. Its work includes food support for people in need and help for refugees, such as a kitchen at a refugee camp in Šid. Residents take part in work activities, including furniture collection, restoration and resale in second-hand shops, and removals and transport services, which build work habits for reintegration. The association is self-financing through this work, supplemented by donations and EU project funding. Its centres are in Zaprešić, Rijeka and Lupoglav, and it runs shops in Zaprešić and Rijeka. Volunteers, many of them former residents, support its work.
