About
Founded in 1987, Safe Haven Orphanage is a charity based in Mae Sot, Thailand working on children & youth, education.
Safe Haven Orphanage is a home in Mae Sot, Tak Province, on the Thailand-Burma border that provides disadvantaged children from Thailand and Burma with nurture, nutrition, shelter, clothing, medical care and education. Founded in 1987 by Tasanee Keereepraneed, who began caring for orphaned children in the village of Ban Tha Song Yang, the orphanage is a family-style home where children of every community, faith and culture are welcome. The children range in age from infants to young adults over 20. It is funded entirely by personal donations, with no institutional funding, and supports children's schooling, including tuition, uniforms and transport at the local Thai school. The orphanage is pursuing registration as a foster home in Thailand so that children in its care can obtain Thai citizenship. Visitors are welcome by prior arrangement, and the orphanage accepts donations by card, PayPal, bank transfer and cheque.
