About
Founded in 2003, Tierheim Schoppen is a non-profit association based in Amel, Belgium working on animal welfare.
Tierheim Schoppen is a non-profit animal protection association in Amel, in the German-speaking East Belgium region. It runs a shelter for dogs that have been surrendered, lost or found, caring for them until they are adopted. Daily cleaning and feeding are followed by walks by volunteers, and staff and volunteers get to know each dog's temperament to help match it with a suitable new home. The shelter operates by appointment for adoptions, handovers and dog walks. It is funded by donations, a dog sponsorship scheme and sales of pet food and accessories. The association was founded on 1 May 2003 by a group of friends concerned for animal welfare.
