Udruženje Za česme is a citizens' association based in Zaječar, Serbia, registered in May 2015. It grew out of an informal group of citizens campaigning for the restoration of Zaječar's public artesian fountains (česme), which had been drying up. The association works to protect and improve the environment and water resources of the Timok region of eastern Serbia, with a focus on the artesian fountains. Its activities include public advocacy for compliance with environmental law and responsible use of natural resources, awareness and education for citizens, especially children and young people, public reporting on environmental incidents, and humanitarian and socially responsible actions. It publishes water and air quality analyses and environmental reports, runs youth ecological workshops, and produces documentary films and a TV programme. Its main current project, Ekološki odgovor, is co-financed by the European Union and implemented with partner organisations in Bor and Zaječar, addressing the expansion of mining in the Timočka Krajina region.
