Yoga and Sport with Refugees (YSR) is a non-profit NGO that uses sport, yoga and solidarity to improve the physical and mental wellbeing of displaced people, particularly men and women seeking asylum in Europe. It was established in October 2017 on Lesvos to support people living in the Moria refugee camp, and later expanded to Athens and Ioannina in Greece and to Paris, France. Classes are led by coaches from refugee backgrounds, and each location has a coordinator from the community. The organisation runs gyms and offers more than 10 sports activities a day to around 400 people across its Greek locations. It also engages local and international volunteers and interns, aiming to build leadership, skills and integration between people of different origins.
