Zelena akcija (Friends of the Earth Croatia) is a non-party, non-profit association of citizens founded in 1990 and based in Zagreb. It works to protect the environment and nature, promote sustainable development and a low-carbon society, and advance environmental and social justice in Croatia and beyond. Its main areas include public and common goods and resistance to privatisation, nature and biodiversity protection, climate change and fossil fuels, waste reduction and zero waste, and sustainable transport. It runs campaigns, legal actions and public consultations advocacy, operates the Zeleni telefon environmental advice service, and coordinates volunteer activist groups and a volunteer bicycle repair workshop. The organisation is funded mainly by donations and member support, and is a member of several European and international environmental networks.
