D-HYDROFLEX is a European research and innovation project funded by the EU Horizon programme (Grant Agreement No. 101122357) that develops digital solutions for hydroelectric power plants. The project focuses on increasing plant flexibility and sustainability through advanced digital technologies including cloud-based monitoring and diagnostics centers, weather and water flow forecasting tools, digital twins, cyber-threat detection systems, and AI-driven hydrogen decision support models. The project includes 17 partners from 7 European countries, comprising 6 research institutes and universities, and 5 power plant operators/energy producers. Demonstrations are being conducted on seven real hydroelectric power plants across five European countries to test replicability and scalability of solutions.
