About
H-Hope is a ngo headquartered in Padova, Italy specializing in Hydro.
H-Hope is a Horizon Europe-funded research and innovation project (Grant Agreement No 101084362) that develops sustainable hydropower technology to extract energy from water infrastructures and streams. The project progresses technological solutions from TRL 3 to TRL 5, utilizing multi-physics design strategies and innovative Power Take-Off (PTO) systems to harvest energy through vortex-induced vibrations. The consortium comprises 15 organizations from 9 European countries, including research institutions, utilities, and municipalities. Key objectives include establishing a DIY platform for sharing design plans and technical resources, identifying unrealized hydropower potential in non-hydropower hydraulic systems, and promoting prosumer renewable energy in European cities and communities. Eight case studies across six European countries test applications in freshwater supply networks, wastewater networks, large water streams, hot water supply networks, and lagoon flows. The project aims to enhance European scientific leadership in sustainable hydropower, support EU climate goals, and improve resilience of decentralized water and energy systems through real-time digitalization and monitoring.
