THERMOS is a user-friendly, free, open-source software designed to make thermal network planning faster, more efficient, and cost-effective. The project was funded by the European Union's Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme (grant agreement No. 723636). THERMOS was developed by over 20 expert partners from universities, local and city authorities, energy and environmental agencies, and specialist consultancies across the UK, Spain, Poland, Latvia, Denmark, Germany, Portugal, and Romania. The project wrapped up in March 2021, but the software and partner support continue to be available globally. THERMOS provides capacity building training for planners working with heating and cooling networks and had over 1400 users globally as of February 2021.
