About

Founded in 2015, Buitenplaats Ockenburgh is a foundation based in Den Haag, Netherlands working on heritage, arts & culture, nature & wildlife conservation +2 more.

Stichting tot behoud van de Historische Buitenplaats Ockenburgh (SHBO) is a foundation that owns and runs the historic estate Villa Ockenburgh on the edge of The Hague and Westland, Netherlands. Since 2018 it has been the official owner of the estate, which was restored from the 1990s dereliction through a citizens' initiative started in 2012 and largely carried out by volunteers. The foundation works to keep the estate an accessible place for meeting, nature, culture and participation. Its activities include a historic kitchen garden, a rooftop garden, a nature and children's trail, a film club, a theatre programme and a learn-and-work programme with Stichting Villa Bijzonder, alongside a restaurant and event and meeting venues run with partners. The estate lies within a Natura 2000 area. The foundation holds cultural ANBI status and is run by a volunteer board and supervisory board.
