De Aandacht
Amersfoort, Netherlands
About
Founded in 1989, De Aandacht is a faith-based organisation based in Amersfoort, Netherlands working on community development.
De Aandacht, diaconaal ontmoetingscentrum, is a Christian diaconal meeting centre (inloophuis) in the centre of Amersfoort, the Netherlands. It offers a welcoming living-room setting where anyone can walk in for coffee or tea, conversation, games or creative activities without registering. Regular offerings include drop-in sessions, a weekly shared meal on Thursdays, a grief café, a Bakkie Kroost meeting for parents and young children, an English-language International Meet & Greet, and digital skills help through Klik & Tik. The work follows the presence approach, focusing on building meaningful relationships and seeing people in their own strengths rather than on solving problems. Volunteers, about 25 of them supported by a professional coordinator, run the activities. The centre is part of Stichting Inloophuizen Amersfoort, which holds ANBI status and coordinates drop-in work in the city, and it is linked to the Netwerk DAK network of drop-in houses and street pastoral care across the Netherlands. Since 2008 the building has also housed the Straatpastoraat, the base for street pastors. Other drop-in locations in Amersfoort, including De Herberg and De Ontmoeting, are part of the wider network.
