Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung Bulgarien

Founded in 1994, Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung Bulgarien is a foundation based in Sofia, Bulgaria working on democracy & civil society, employment & skills, poverty & hunger.

The Sofia office of the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung, the political foundation linked to the German Social Democrats, works in Bulgaria to support democratic transition and political education. It runs programmes for young politicians, youth, and political and social leaders, including a political management school, a summer school on social democracy, and the Future Leaders dialogue forum. Its work also covers trade union cooperation and social dialogue, social policy, inequality, Roma integration, municipal politics, sustainable development, gender, and foreign and security policy. It publishes the Polit-Barometer on Bulgarian political parties and studies on youth and inequality. The office was opened in 1994 and is part of the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung network, which is headquartered in Bonn, Germany. Its work is financed by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).
