Stichting Hospice Nathrine runs a palliative hospice in Rozenburg, near Rotterdam in the Netherlands. The hospice offers 24-hour end-of-life care in a home-like setting for people with a life expectancy of less than three months who cannot or do not wish to spend their final phase at home. It has eight rooms, each with a private bathroom and climate control, and welcomes family, friends and loved ones at any time. Care is provided by coordinators, nurses and volunteers, regardless of background, faith or life view. The foundation holds ANBI status, operates on a non-profit basis, and is funded through donations and resident contributions, with most daily costs usually covered by supplementary health insurance. Volunteers are sought to provide companionship and support, with introduction training and ongoing guidance. The foundation is run by a volunteer board.
