About

Founded in 2009, Netherlands Respiratory Society is a non-profit association based in Amsterdam, Netherlands working on medical research, health.

The Netherlands Respiratory Society (NRS) is a Dutch platform founded in 2009 to coordinate respiratory research in the Netherlands. Its mission is to reduce and prevent diseases of the respiratory tract, airways and lungs through fundamental, translational, patient-oriented and healthcare research, covering conditions from common diseases such as asthma, COPD and lung cancer to rare lung diseases. The NRS fosters collaboration among researchers, supports training of early-career investigators, organises the annual Dutch Lung Congress and Young Investigators Symposium, runs a monthly webinar series and a news committee, and awards travel grants and prizes. It also runs the national lung research programme and advocates for lung research funding with government and other funders. The society is governed by a volunteer board of researchers and pulmonologists, supported by a secretariat based in Amersfoort. Board members receive no remuneration beyond travel expenses. The NRS is recognised as a public-benefit organisation (ANBI).
