Platform Vrouwen & Duurzame Vrede
Netherlands
About
Founded in 2005, Platform Vrouwen & Duurzame Vrede is a non-profit network based in Netherlands working on peace & conflict, gender equality, human rights.
Platform Vrouwen & Duurzame Vrede (PV&DV) is a Dutch association of women's and peace organisations, diaspora groups and individual members. It works for sustainable peace worldwide, with particular attention to women's role in peace and security. Its three central themes are Vrouwen Vrede Veiligheid (implementing UN Security Council Resolution 1325), Rechten van Vrouwen (women's rights as human rights) and Veilige en Duurzame Wereld (safe and sustainable world, including the Inclusieve Veiligheid initiative). The platform acts as a meeting place for exchanging experience, coordinating activities and taking joint action, and it lobbies on women's rights and peace policy. Local working groups carry out peace projects in their own regions. The organisation also runs the Snuffelpand thrift shop, whose proceeds fund projects in developing countries and the Netherlands, mainly supporting women and children. It holds ANBI status and publishes a fortnightly newsletter, the VredesFlits.
