Sheltersuit Foundation is a Dutch charity, founded in 2014, that supports people experiencing homelessness and forced outdoor sleeping. It designs and produces multifunctional products, such as the Sheltersuit jacket with sleeping bag attachment and the portable Shelterbag, which are made in social sewing workshops from upcycled and leftover materials. The workshops also provide work and language support to people at a distance from the labour market, including refugees. Products are distributed in partnership with homeless shelters, aid organisations, emergency responders and refugee organisations, and are also used in disaster and conflict response. The foundation operates in the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, South Africa and the United States, and holds ANBI status in the Netherlands. It is supported by individual donations, corporate partners and grants.
