Stichting het Gehandicapte Kind is a Dutch foundation, founded in 1950, that works for children with disabilities in the Netherlands. Its goal is a society in which children with and without disabilities grow up together, play, learn and play sport side by side. The foundation is funded entirely by private sources, including around 40,000 donors, legacies, collections and lotteries, and receives no government subsidies. It runs or supports the programmes Samen Spelen, Samen Leren, Samen Sporten and Changing Places Toiletten, and the Eerste Inclusieve Generatie pact in Deventer. It supports external projects through grants: it receives more than 300 requests a year and grants roughly half, for a total of about 3 million. It also runs annual national collections with volunteers, and is an ANBI with CBF control mark for fundraising. The foundation was originally a manager of homes for physically disabled children and since 1999 has widened its scope to children with physical, intellectual or multiple disabilities and chronic illness.
