Stichting Internationaal Homomonument Den Haag
Den Haag, Netherlands
About
Founded in 1987, Stichting Internationaal Homomonument Den Haag is a foundation based in Den Haag, Netherlands working on lgbtq+, human rights.
Stichting Internationaal Homomonument Den Haag is a foundation established in 1987 to raise funds for and realise the International Homomonument, a memorial near the city centre of The Hague. The monument commemorates lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer and intersex people worldwide who have been persecuted or oppressed because of their sexual orientation or gender identity. Since the monument was unveiled in 1993, the foundation has organised an annual 4 May commemoration ceremony, maintains the monument's public role and promotes its visibility as a symbol of emancipation. The board is made up of volunteers, and the foundation is recognised as a public-benefit organisation (ANBI). Its monument has been located on the Koekamp, near The Hague Central Station, since 2015.
