About

Founded in 2010, Stichting Jarige Job is a charity based in Rotterdam, Netherlands working on children & youth, poverty & hunger.

Stichting Jarige Job is a Dutch foundation, based in Rotterdam and active nationwide, that gives children growing up in poverty a birthday celebration. It provides birthday boxes worth about €35 containing decorations, treats for school, a gift and party items, sent directly to parents, so that children who cannot afford a birthday can still celebrate. Requests come through food banks, Stichting Leergeld, Jeugdfonds Sport & Cultuur and directly from parents and social workers. The foundation was founded in 2010 by Huib Lloyd and Barbara Kathmann after their son's first birthday. The boxes are packed by volunteers and company teams at its workshop in the Van Nelle Fabriek in Rotterdam. Alongside the birthday boxes, it runs awareness campaigns about child poverty in the Netherlands and holds fundraising events, a sponsored-action programme and volunteer days. It is an ANBI-listed public-benefit organisation with CBF-Erkenning, and it is part of the Sam& voor alle kinderen collaboration. Around 95% of its spending goes to its goals, according to its own reporting.
